'Saint Cuthman of Steyning'- an Exclusive Documentary Film from Mary's Dowry Productions following the story of this Saxon Saint of Sussex.

Saint Cuthman was born in 681AD and baptised by Saint Wilfrid - the apostle of Sussex.

He was a shepherd who had to care for his paralyzed mother after the death of his father.  When they became poverty stricken Cuthman constructed a wooden cart to push his mother in.

They set out east, towards the rising sun, from his home and, even though the rope broke, he improvised a new one from withies, deciding that when that rope broke he would accept it as a sign from God to stop at that place and build a church. The withy rope broke at the place now called Steyning.

Filmed on location in Steyning, Sompting and around the West Sussex downs Saint Cuthman is brough to life and seen for the first time in over 1000 years pushing his mother in a wooden cart over the Sussex downs.  Mary's Dowry Productions is pleased to present the story of this lovely Saxon Sussex saint on DVD.
