Cast from Saint Anne Line

Set Production and on location for St. Anne Line

Saint Anne Line.

An English Catholic Martyr, St. Anne Line helped to provide safe houses for Catholic priests in England during the persecution of Queen Elizabeth I.  She was killed by hanging at Tyburn for hiding a priest and refusing to renounce the Catholic Faith.

William Heigham.

St. Anne Line's brother, William sheltered a Catholic priest and was arrested with his brother-in-law and Fr. Thompson during a secret Mass. He was imprisoned but upon his release he left England and travelled abroad to train for the priesthood.

Roger Line.

A devout recusant Catholic, he married St. Anne Line.  He was arrested with his brother-in-law for attending a secret Catholic Mass. He refused to deny his Catholic Faith and so forfieted both his inheritence and his freedom. He was exiled to Flanders and sent money back to St. Anne Line until his death shortly after.

Fr. Thompson

Fr. William Thompson was friends with the Lines and William Heigham.  He was captured by the government while preparing for Mass with Roger Line and William.  He was imprisoned, tortured and was hung, drawn and quartered at Tyburn for his priesthood and for refusing to deny his Catholic Faith.

Fr. Francis Page

Fr. Francis Page was a Catholic priest who was hunted by the government during Elizabethan England.  He was with St. Anne Line when the house where he was preparing to say Mass in was raided.  He managed to escape but St. Anne Line was arrested.

A selection of recusant Catholics gathered to hear Mass on the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lady.  The house was raided by priest hunters and St.  Anne Line and two others were arrested.

William Heigham Sr.

An ardent Calvinist, he was the father of St. Anne Line.  When his son and daughter converted to the Catholic Faith he disinherited them both and worked with all his might to cause them suffering and discredit.

Fr. Mark Barkworth.

A Catholic priest, Fr. Barkworth accompanied St. Anne Line to Tyburn.  He kissed the hem of her dress and said that he would be following her shortly after to bliss.  He was hung, drawn and quartered for refusing to deny the Catholic Church.
