Description:

Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, also known as Catherine, was a native of North America in the 17th Century. She was born into a Mohawk tribe. Saint Kateri was drawn to the Catholic Faith through the French Jesuit missions but her baptism was deferred for some time. She refused to marry and longed to become a Catholic. After studying the Catechism and being taught by the missionary priests, Kateri was baptised. From then on she suffered from persecution due to her Catholic Faith and devotions. In 1677, Kateri left in secret for the Jesuit mission of Kahnawake, south of Montreal on the St. Lawrence River, where other native converts had gathered. St Kateri loved to attend every Mass offered in the chapel and spent long hours in prayer. She also liked to offer sacrifices and carved crosses into the trees where she would kneel and pray. Kateri’s life was short but filled with prayer. She is a warrior of prayer and purity, also an example of perseverance and penance with a deep devotion to the Most Holy Eucharist. She died when she was 24 years of age and many miracles carried through the centuries. She was canonised a Saint in 2012. Her interesting, devotional life is filled with many Catholic insights. Our unique film production style has been praised worldwide for not only presenting facts and biographical information but a prayerful and spiritual film experience. Our film, Saint Kateri Tekakwitha was produced in 2011 and has been broadcast on EWTN.
