A life of stealth, intrigue and danger was the choice of Nicholas Owen, an outstanding maker of priest holes in Elizabethan England.  Working alone and mostly at night, this ingenious Englishman spent many years travelling throughout England, constructing secret holes and rooms in a vast network of houses where priests could hide from the government.  Caught up in the Gunpowder Plot and hunted by King James I, he was finally captured and taken to the Tower of London in 1606.  But his Faith and determination were unbreakable.  In this docudrama a tangible blend of costumed portrayals, rich art and historical imagery cast the viewer into the heart and mind of an Elizabethan man with a fascinating mission that affected the history of Britain.  St. Nicholas Owen is one of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales.  Filmed on locations in Sussex U.K. including the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum, Chichester.
