Mary's Dowry Productions
About Us

Founded in 2007, Mary’s Dowry Productions created an entirely new form of film media to present the lives of the saints and martyrs. By weaving together atmospheric silent visuals, rich devotional narration, and original contemplative music, our films offer a sacred window into the communion of saints.

Our Story
Our Story
Welcome to Mary’s Dowry Productions! Our independent, family-run film studio was founded in 2007 by sisters Bernadette Bevans and Emily Jane Bevans. Based on the south coast of England—taking our name from the ancient, historical title for our homeland, "Mary’s Dowry"—we have spent nearly two decades creating a unique window into the communion of saints.
A Creative Family Apostolate
What began as a small family mission has grown into a globally recognized catalogue of over 100 original film biographies and reflective music albums. We manage every step of production entirely in-house. With academic degrees in professional music composition and qualifications in media and design, we combine our skills to bring these sacred histories to life:
-
Emily Jane directs, edits, and designs our stunning, custom DVD cover artwork.
-
Bernadette handles the spoken narration and professionally scores each film with original, deeply contemplative music.
Our films are a rich, artistic blend of costumed portrayals, historical facts, sacred art, maps, and inspiring narration. Every production is meticulously researched using authentic historical documents, Catholic literature, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. To make this a true community collaboration, we are proudly joined by volunteer actors from our local parish, family, friends, and work colleagues.
Award-Winning & Globally Trusted
In October 2010, we were deeply honoured to be named "Catholic Women of the Year" in London. We were presented with our certificates by Archbishop Vincent Nichols, and received a special message and Apostolic Blessing from Pope Benedict XVI recognizing our dedication to promoting the witnesses of the saints.
Today, our unique film style is watched globally and has been featured on major television networks, including EWTN, Sky, and BBC1.
A Unique, Prayerful Film Experience
Our films seek to offer more than just historical facts; they provide an authentically Catholic, prayerful encounter. We combine quiet, atmospheric silent visuals with evocative, prayerful scores. We invite you to shut out the noise of the world, sit peacefully, and journey through faith and history with the heroic witnesses of the Church.
"Just checking out the movies you and your sister have created, not to mention the incredible zeal for the historic Christian Faith that you have to go to such trouble and have such energy to pour all your God-given gifts into such a life's work, well that just leaves me completely moved and blessed, that there are such folk left in a world that has lately especially given me such discouragement. I am so grateful to God to have discovered your films and now your music too." - A Customer, Canada.
